This is a roleplay journal owned by [info]chiba_yuriko. I claim no ownership over the character, series, or images. This is just for fun folks, promise XD

Character name: Mihashi Ren

Character series: Ookiku Furikabutte! (Big Windup!)

Character age: 16 (birthday is in May)

Student or teacher?: Highschool student, first year.

Background: Mihashi's had a pretty normal life, though his parents had been elopers and when he was young, they lived in very old apartment building. He and the kids in the area would play baseball together, including a good friend he made named Hamada (Hama-chan) who even gave him his old mitt because Mihashi didn't have one. The sport became a deep passion of his, particularly pitching. But by 2nd grade, his family moved from those old "Creaker Villa" apartments to a big house. However, being as he was it was hard for him to make friends when they moved. This somewhat proved to be true all the way past elementary school. In middle school, he attended a school his grandfather just happened to own called Mihoshi Academy. While attending there, he didn't live with his parents and instead stayed with an aunt and uncle and his cousin. Due to his grandfather he was given the position of "ace" pitcher at the school. However, again and again, his team would lose, year after year, no matter how much work he put into the pitching and the love he had for it. It was because of that love for pitching that kept him from giving up the mound to the backup pitcher as well, even if his mind and heart told him that was the decent thing to do. He just couldn't bring himself to do it. His teammates grew resentful of this and were convinced he only had the position of ace because of his grandfather and had no real talent at all and Mihashi was convinced of it too. Despite this, the boy would practice for HOURS in his backyard every day, pitching over and over again and was honestly far from a poor pitcher despite what he and the others thought. Through his hard work and dedication Mihashi had developed a control over the ball that most pros can't even achieve, with a strike zone divided into 9 parts, and he could aim at each one with razor precision. He may not have had a strong fastball, his pitches appearing slow and odd to trained players, but in the hands of someone who knew what he could do, the boy could prove a very dangerous pitcher indeed. But Mihashi had no clue his ability to do this was strange at all and continued to think his team was losing because of him every time. Everyone but the backup pitcher, who knew better by watching Mihashi pitch, blamed him and didn't even try their best. (It's proven by that backup pitcher later that the lost games not because of Mihashi's pitching but because they didn't play their hardest and they squandered their pitcher when they had him.) Even to the very end, he clung to that position and pitched til their very last game of middle school. By that point, even his catcher, someone a pitcher is supposed to have a good rapport of trust with, hated him and wouldn't even give him signs. Mihashi resolved after middle school to leave Mihoshi so he couldn't ruin everything for any longer and transferred schools rather than using the elevator system to continue at Mihoshi. Just as he'd been accepted to a small school in Saitama, Julian showed up on he and his mother's doorstep. His mother had been so thrilled for him to be accepted into such a fancy and prestiguous school that she would hear no arguments from Mihashi and so there he found himself, swept away to a strange new school with no friends or familiar faces. It was a bit lonely but he was used to that by then, and it was also a relief, really. Other than the high expectations attending such a school would bring, of course! Those were going to be the end of him some day soon... And despite the fact that this new school had a baseball program, he resolved to go nowhere near it (though he'd caved a few times and gone to see a game or practice or two). And here he was almost at the end of his first year and he missed baseball dearly despite that his private practicing hadn't let up in the slightest. If anything, he only pitched alone more often than ever... But oh how he missed the mound...

Canon Background

Personality: Mihashi in a word is a spaz. The un-confident kind. He really and truly believes he's the reason his middle school team lost every single game and that he's a terrible person for having kept his place there despite that. He's jumpy and shy and also not terribly good at anything other than baseball and he's really only good at pitching when it comes to that. His grades are usually below average (average if he tries really hard, has help and is lucky) and he's not interested in any other sports or activities besides baseball. What can I say, baseball is what makes him happy, so he goes with that.

Mihashi's friendly enough if someone can get close enough to him without scaring him off, though he thinks he's terribly selfish too and in a way he can be, but he's loyal once he does make those bonds. Mihashi is one of those types who's quick to cry (seriously total crybaby) and always assumes the worst of himself or a situation (though not usually of others). He panics easy and flails and makes strange noises and faces. A lot. He also doesn't have a whole lot of common sense which can drive more reason and logic-driven people insane. (During the series, you see him start to grow a little as his bonds with his new team develop and he starts to believe in himself more and gain more confidence, but since I'm basically pulling him pre-series to plop him into a new school, he hasn't gone through any of that forward progress and is still hurting over what happened to him in middle school.)
